Kevin F. Smith Joins CVS to Head Logistics
Vice President of Logistics & Customer Support at Heinz U.S.A. Assumes New CVS Role in February

WOONSOCKET, R.I.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 15, 2000--CVS Corporation (NYSE:CVS) today announced Kevin F. Smith will become the new Senior Vice President of Logistics. In his new role, Smith is responsible for managing CVS/pharmacy's supply chain, including the 10 CVS distribution centers that supply all of CVS's 4,100 stores. He will be an instrumental part of CVS/pharmacy's supply chain initiative, creating an efficient consumer response model for drug class of trade. In addition, Smith will be working closely with CVS/pharmacy vendors as well as all CVS/pharmacy departments and organizations to ensure the efficient flow of inventory to all 4,100 CVS/pharmacy stores.

Previously, Smith was the vice president of Logistics & Customer Support at Heinz U.S.A. where he oversaw all logistics and customer support activities including supply chain activities supporting dry and frozen retail and foodservice business of $2 billion in sales for the largest affiliate of the H.J. Heinz Company.

Smith spent much of his career with Kraft/General Foods, prior to his joining Heinz U.S.A. in 1998. His responsibilities there included distribution and supply chain, network planning and implementation, customer service, sales services, transportation and warehousing.
